Purpose: For independent research or advanced study on the post-graduate level in Japan.
Amount: 500,000 to 1,000,000 yen. The amount granted will vary depending on the duration of stay in Japan and the nature of the work.
Eligibility: Open to citizens of a country other than Japan with an academic degree equivalent to a bachelor’s degree, undertaking research or study in Japan for not less than three months between September 15, 2011 and March 31, 2012. Applicants must have a plan of study or research which will advance the applicant’s professional competence and which must be carried out in Japan. The applicant must be accepted by a Japanese institution at which she propses to undertake study/research.
