Born in Greenock, Scotland, 1926, of purely Scottish parentage.
Educated locally, girl Sports Champion for 2 years then Dux Girl.
B.Sc. (Hons Chem.), Ph.D. in Electrochemistry: Glasgow University.
Post Doctoral Fellow: National Research Council of Canada in Ottawa, 1953–56.
Research Assistant: Royal Technical University, Stockholm, Sweden, 1956-59.
Glasgow University 1959-86: Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Adviser in Science, Senior Adviser. Elected to Faculty Committee, from there to Senate and finally elected a Senate Representative on Court.
First woman to be President of Glasgow Association of University Teachers.
Appointed to the Governing Body of Paisley College of Technology in 1984 and the Court of the University of Paisley, 1993-96.
IFUW.
Joined Glasgow Association of University Women in 1948 and attended IFUW Conferences 1956, 1962 - 2007. Member of IFUW Standards/Membership Committee, 1968-74, and Convener, 1974-77. Elected Second Vice-president in 1977, First Vice-president in 1980 and President in 1983. Served as President of the University Women of Europe 1988 - 94.
