TAUW is member of IFUW since 1955.

Our ongoing projects are:

Project No.1: Prevention of Violence Against Women - This project is ongoing successfully in Istanbul neighbourhoods. Awareness raising meetings have been organised, especially targeting uneducated women, to inform them about their legal rights, to provide legal advice and support. This year we are going to expand this project with the participation of all our 21 branches.

Project No. 2: Best gift is a BOOK - We have recently started this project where our aim is to create public awareness of the value of books and reading. The message is that books are the best gift as no other gift will open new horizons, nurture your mind and imagination for a relatively small amount of money. A book will stay in your library and in your memory forever
 
Project No.3: Friendship Bridge - This project aims to support female university students financially and morally. The Turkish Association of University Women with its 21 branches, has been supporting 700 students to date, building a "Friendship Bridge" between donors and chosen students, based on the professions of the donors and the study area/major selected by the student. For example, a lawyer may be the supporter of a law student, providing the student not only with financial support but also study and career guidance.. A committee chooses candidates based on their academic success and level of need. We encourage each member to contribute herself and/or introduce at least one donor to the project. .Our goal is to give a hand to female university students with the hope of seeing them in future decision- making positions.
