Triennial ConferencesThe Triennial Conferences of IFUW, FUWA (Federation of Universtiy Women of Africa) and RAUW provide members with opportunities to take an active part in the life of the international, regional and national associations. Members exchange views and experiences through workshops, interdisciplinary seminars, networking, leadership training, plenary discussions and formal meetings. Monthly MeetingsBetween conferences members meet at monthly meetings. Highlights of meetings can be a guest speaker, panel discussion, or some other activity of interest. Financial AssistanceThrough its Scholarship fund, RAUW awards modest book grants to members proceeding on to further studies, on request. Women’s IssuesThrough its study projects and lobbying, RAUW raises awareness on topical issues and advocates for legislation and change in attitudes to improve the situation and opportunities for women and girls. Conference resolutions adopted by the membership form the policies of the Association. These policies guide RAUW activities and its relations with other NGOs. NewsletterRegular communications are maintained through a bimonthly newsletter that contains various items of interest to members. Information about fellowships and other financial assistance available are provided by email. RAUW PublicationsRAUW will be conducting research studies which will be published and made available to ministries, educational institutions and interested people and groups. Proceeds of sales will help build our scholarship fund. DGroup NetworkAll members of RAUW are connected on a DGroup network. Information about IFUW, FUWA, national federations and associations, RAUW, job, scholarship and award opportunities, and news items relevant to women graduates are posted to the DGroup on a daily basis. At the time of the launch of the Association on 5 May, there were over 200 members on the Dgroup. Projects RAUW seeks funding for projects particularly related to improving the
education of women and girls in Rwanda. To date these include providing
schooling for girl-headed families as a result of the genocide, training
our members in the use of information technology, internet and DGroup
communication, and career education and career fairs for girls. |
