Publications, research & statistics
- The UN Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM) resource page provides links to publications and other tools.
- ILO Gender News is produced four times yearly, in English, French and Spanish by the Bureau for Gender Equality (GENDER) of the International Labour Organisation. Visit the GENDER website for information on ILO initiatives to mainstream gender and promote equality between women and men, girls and boys in relation to the worklife.
- The Statistics Division of the UN Department for Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) is a global source of information. The 2005 report, The World's Women 2005, focuses on sex disaggregated statistics in such areas as demographics, health, education, work, violence against women, poverty, human rights and decision-making.
- The United Nations Research Institute for Social Development (UNRISD) is an autonomous UN research agency that carries out research on social dimensions of contemporary problems affecting development in the world. It also published the UNRISD NEWS bulletin.
- The Women's Learning Partnership (WLP) creates culturally-adapted leadership training curriculum and implement leadership and empowerment programs for grassroots women. Leading To Choices: A Leadership Training Handbook for Women is designed to train diverse groups of women in the practice of inclusive, participatory, and horizontal leadership.
NGO Resources
- The United Nations Non-Governmental Liaison Service (UN-NGLS) promotes dynamic partnerships between the United Nations and non-governmental organisations. By providing information, advice, expertise and consulting and support service, NGLS is part of the United Nations effort to strengthen dialogue and win support for economic and social development. Core activities of UN-NGLS include: information and communication outreach to the international community and to global civil society; supporting the UN system in developing productive relationships and partnerships with NGOs and civil society; and supporting the work of NGOs/civil society that seek to constructively engage with the UN system.
- The Conference of Non-Governmental Organizations in Consultative Relationship with the United Nations (CONGO) is an independent, international, non-profit membership association of non-governmental organizations (NGOs). It facilitates the participation of NGOs in United Nations debates and decision-making. CONGO's Calendar of Events provides information on upcoming NGO activities.
