Description
Raise awareness and understanding of what constitutes violence and how to take action to create environments in which nations, communities and individuals can prosper free from physical, psychological, economic, social and cultural violence.

Possible NFA Actions:
- Network with other NGOs to work together for education, advocacy, legal reforms and practical actions on violence issues.
- Promote the education in schools of boys and girls about equality, their rights and freedom from violence;
- Form domestic violence prevention groups in rural areas to educate women and men about the right to ‘freedom from violence’ and to provide support to abused women;
- Organise an event (workshop, lecture, panel, radio or TV programme, online forum, art exhibition, literary competition) for women or for a mixed audience so as to increase public understanding of what constitutes violence in all its various forms and also ways of preventing it so that the rights of women, children and the elderly to freedom from violence are ensured;
- Work with business (to print bags, calendars etc.) with the theme of 'non-violence' so as to make the issues visible;
- Advocate for peace studies as part of the educational curriculum and monitor its implementation;
- Advocate to your government to develop and implement a National Action Plan on UN Resolution 1325so that women are protected in conflict situations and represented in decision-making on conflict resolution and peace building.
