Education for Financial Independence, Employment & Entrepreneurship

Description

Raise awareness and understanding for women and girls to become financially literate and learn to understand how to obtain and manage finances and other resources, matters essential for women's autonomy. And by doing this, create opportunities for women to become employed, self-employed and / or entrepreneurs.

Possible NFA Actions:

  • Advocate to Ministers of Education and curriculum committees for education in schools regarding managing money and financial literacy;
  • Organise seminars, panels or articles in newsletters etc on ways for women to access finance information;
  • Advocate for education about women’s rights to property and other resources and equitable access to funding via loans, mortgages, micro-credit etc;
  • Join with other women’s NGOs in advocating to close the gender pay gap; • Join with other women’s NGOs to organise an Equal Pay Day;
  • Scrutinise Equal Opportunity legislation and advocate to government for necessary improvements in the work place;
  • Provide or support organisations running training workshops on vocational skills, wage negotiation, Curriculum Vitae writing, and preparing for job interviews;
  • Organise workshops/seminars using the expertise of experienced women directors to motivate and inspire more women to make themselves available for appointment to Boards of Directors and public and private sector committees;
  • Advocate to governments regarding pensions or superannuation schemes for women, paid maternity /paternity leave;
  • Organise seminars/meetings with women entrepreneurs who can act as role models and mentors.
