Peace:

Peace and Security Web Portal: This is an excellent place to start any research and search for resources on women, peace and security. There is an easy to use tool kit for presenting a workshop on the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325. Information by country and by issue. http://www.womenwarpeace.org/h_index.htm

PeaceWomen: Women’s International League for Peace and Security web site supports the implementation of the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 on women, peace and security. English, French and Spanish. http://www.peacewomen.org/

Amnesty International: Stop Violence Against Women. English, Spanish, Arabic and French. An action oriented web site. A post card campaign to support. Stories from many parts of the world. http://web.amnesty.org/actforwomen/index-eng

Hague Appeal for Peace: This organization has been around for many years, and the web site offers some excellent resources. Check out the peace education section with teaching resources for primary and secondary schools. English only. http://www.haguepeace.org/index.php

UNESCO Culture of Peace web site: Peace is in Our Hands is an excellent source of information on resources and news about UN work in supporting peace initiatives. English and French. http://www3.unesco.org/iycp/

IANSA: The International Action Network on Small Arms is the global network of civil society organisations working to stop the proliferation and misuse of small arms and light weapons (SALW). World attention is increasingly focused on the humanitarian impact of these weapons, and IANSA brings together the voices and activities of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and concerned individuals across the world to prevent their deadly effects. Rotary Centres for International Studies in Peace and Conflict Resolution: Rotary International is global network of community volunteers. Each year, Rotary will select up to 70 scholars to study at one of the seven Rotary Centers worldwide. These Rotary World Peace Scholars will begin two-year master's-level degree programs in conflict resolution, peace studies, and international relations at one of the seven Rotary Centers. The web site contains more information about the scholarship program and you can download the application. Peace Centre of Nevada County: This Centre’s web site is an interesting example of a community initiative with listing of local actions and events, many focused on the environment. English only. http://www.ncpeace.org/home.html

KOFF – Centre for Peace Building: This Swiss web site offers a monthly electronic newsletter and several publications and info sheets for downloading. The objective of the Center for Peacebuilding is to strengthen the Swiss capacity to address international conflict. It develops networks and provides information, training and advisory service on strategies, programmes and methodologies. English only.

Human Security:

Program on Human Security: This program is a highly ambitious interdisciplinary research initiative which tackles an issue of increasing global concern: the inadequacy of our present formulation of "human security." The Program on Human Security is supported by the U.S. National Science Foundation, the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs and the Center for Basic Research in the Social Sciences at Harvard University, in collaboration with the Global Programme on Evidence for Health Policy at the World Health Organization. Human Security Network: The Human Security Network (HSN) is a group of like-minded countries from all regions of the world that, at the level of Foreign Ministers, maintains dialogue on questions pertaining to human security. In essence, human security means freedom from pervasive threats to people's rights, their safety or even their lives. English, French and Spanish.

Center for Strategic and Internationals Studies: For four decades, the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) has been dedicated to providing world leaders with strategic insights on — and policy solutions to — current and emerging global issues.
