There are considerable resources available on the Internet to support the work of IFUW on the topic of Education. These are only some of the key resources; more will be added later.

  • Education for All: The Education for All movement took off at the World Conference on Education for All in 1990. Since then, governments, non-governmental organizations, civil society, bilateral and multilateral donor agencies and the media have taken up the cause of providing basic education for all children, youth and adults. Some of the themes in the quick links are Early Childhood Education; HIV/AIDS; Girls/Women in Africa; Higher Education; Poverty Education; E-learning and Sustainable Future. Material available in French, and there are regional forums and country plans. Also an excellent Bookshelf of UNESCO print materials, some available for downloading in pdf. http://www.unesco.org/education/efa/ed_for_all/index.shtml

  • Girl’s Education: This UNICEF site offers a range of material on supporting girls’ education. UNICEF’s aim is to get more girls into school, ensure that they stay in school and that they are equipped with the basic tools they need to succeed in later life. Two relevant projects: Go Girls! (an outreach awareness campaign) and the 25 by 2005 (a strategy to improve the enrolment of girls in 25 counties) are described. Information is available by Region and by Country.
