There
are considerable resources available on the Internet to support the work
of IFUW on the topic of Education. These are only some of the key resources;
more will be added later.
- Education
for All: The Education for All movement took off at the
World Conference on Education for All in 1990. Since then, governments,
non-governmental organizations, civil society, bilateral and multilateral
donor agencies and the media have taken up the cause of providing basic
education for all children, youth and adults. Some of the themes in
the quick links are Early Childhood Education; HIV/AIDS; Girls/Women
in Africa; Higher Education; Poverty Education; E-learning and Sustainable
Future. Material available in French, and there are regional forums
and country plans. Also an excellent Bookshelf of UNESCO print materials,
some available for downloading in pdf. http://www.unesco.org/education/efa/ed_for_all/index.shtml
-
Girl’s Education:
This UNICEF site offers a range of material on supporting girls’
education. UNICEF’s aim is to get more girls into school, ensure
that they stay in school and that they are equipped with the basic tools
they need to succeed in later life. Two relevant projects: Go Girls!
(an outreach awareness campaign) and the 25 by 2005 (a strategy to improve
the enrolment of girls in 25 counties) are described. Information is
available by Region and by Country.

on many important topics. The curriculum lists the following topics:
Peace Education; Poverty; Human Rights; World Hunger; Indigenous Peoples;
and Rights at Work. Quizzes and games. Note: teachers who participate
by reviewing content or testing materials will receive free materials
for their classroom. French, Spanish, Russian, Chinese, Arabic.

promote the contributions women make in science and technology for development,
and to help NGOs, governments, bilateral and multilateral agencies and
women themselves to understand the gender dimensions of S&T and
the implications of this for development policy and practice. WIGSAT
provides services in the area of gender, science and technology for
development, with a special focus on information and communications
technologies. It also acts as a broker or disseminator of information
and resources. English content.
