IFUW and Peace

IFUW's founders in 1919 believed that women graduates working together could play an important role in helping to preserve world peace. Many years later, this remains one of IFUW's priorities. Policy resolutions adopted by the IFUW Conference form the basis of our Peace Platform.

The United Nations has declared 2001-2010 as the International Decade for a Culture of Peace of Peace and Non-violence for the Children of the World 2001-2010. IFUW is an official partner in the Global Movement for Peace and Non-violence working to achieve its aims, including support for the Manifesto 2000.

This section includes also examples of activities IFUW national affiliates have undertaken in recent years to meet challenges within in their local communities, including a diversity campaign in Vanuatu, a conflict resolution workshop in Nigeria and a programme for a culture of peace and democracy in Armenia.
