Resolutions form an important part of the programme for IFUW; they focus the minds of NFA's to the concerns of the Federation and are a tool in forwarding the Federation's aims.

The Resolutions Committee can direct NFAs to the most effective means of obtaining objectives and can assist in wording and form of text when pressing governments to implement proposals.

The Resolutions Committee will be in regular touch with the Office in Geneva , monitoring UN business, and making contact with our repesentaives at the UN.

I, and the Committee, will be in regular e mail contact and so can support NFAs in their endeavours.

How can IFUW best encourage and assist national affiliates to implement IFUW policy resolutions?

IFUW can be approachable, and encourage NFAs to participate in lobbying their governments to implement policy in line with IFUW objectives.

It can encourage NFAs to be continuously vigilant regarding government business and, when an item comes up in line with an IFUW Resolution, the Resolution Committee can help NFAs to formulate submissions to individual governments to ensure effective lobbying.

What do you see as the role of the convener? The role of the Convener is to lead the Resolutions Committee, to keep in constant touch with IFUW Administration, to communicate effectively on policy and action at all times, and to ensure that the whole committee is kept involved in decision-making.

I have Skype on my computer and have used it effectively in the past organising a conference session with all members of the Resolutions Committee. Depending on time differences I am sure this can be organised again.
