What do you see as the main obstacles to membership recruitment and retention and what can the Membership Committee do to help overcome these?

- average age of existing members:
Solution: involve new young members at local level as quickly as possible in organizing events etc.. Offer them the option to give a speech on their subject (as training to speak in public). Advertise these ideas to NFA's.

- job and sometimes family often take most of the time of young member:
Solution: involve young members first rather on project basis where they do not need to participate in a lot of regular meetings. Advertise these ideas to NFA's.

- introduce the idea of offering a “tentative “ membership for new members for one year in order to lower the reluctance to join.
Advertise the idea to NFA's .

What do you see as the target audiences for recruitment drives for IFUW at the national and local level and how can IFUW best diversify its membership?

· According to my experience in the recent past women often join us when they are new in town (in the country). Consequently, the web presence is often the starting point for them and therefore needs to as attractive as possible.

· The focus is on new young members because we urgently need them. It is however also crucial to keep in regular contact with existing members through regular meetings and information mails.

· Professional experience within our groups also sometimes attracts students (we have student members in Germany) that are sometimes offered internships in companies where our members work. Students are a target audience because they have often more time than young professionals.

· Except for age I think we have all the diversity we need as our network is not restricted to certain professions. It would of cause be an advantage to have more well known women.
