Anne Nègre
Paris, France
Age: 50-59
Nominated for: Board of Officers
As: President
Nominated by: French Association of University Women

Professional Field and/or Present Occupation Starting my career in an advertising agency, I practised as a barrister in the most renowned law firm dealing with High Court cases. Then, I worked in a important business law firm in Paris. I also specialized in the rights of non profit charities. Now, I work as an independent lawyer and mediator to balance family and professional activities.
Skills and experience from the last 10 years which qualify her for this position Married, with 3 children, 18, 23, 26, I'm 53. I have been involved in NGOs since I took over the responsibility of my high school UNESCO club. Since 2000, I have been a board officer of a charity active in youth protection with 800 employees and a member of the local government in Versailles.

As the daughter of an IFUW representative to UNESCO, I am well acquainted with IFUW. I joined the French Association AFFDU, in 1990 and a year later, was elected to the Board, soon Vice-President then President until 2005. At Perth, I was the head of the French delegation. As a member of the IFUW group of Constitutionnal advisers, I worked recently on our status.

Since its creation in 1994, on behalf of AFFDU I have been deeply involved in a network gathering the major women's organizations in France : it aims at enhancing women's participation in economic, political and social fields. Active lobbying successfully resulted in the modification of the French Constitution and in the Parliament's vote to pass laws both in favour of positive discrimination in politics as well as gender equality in the workplace. For these actions, I was decorated by the President of the French Republic.

Likewise, in collaboration with other European and French organizations, I fought to have equality between men and women included in the European Constitution. I have been lobbying for many years in favour of CEDAW. As a strong supporter of human rights, I am sure that the key for a peacefull and democratic world is linked to a quality education for girls and boys alike wich leads to an equality in rights and facts between women and men all over the globe.
