During
the Triennium 1997-2000 I was National President of the NZFGW and
Standing Committee Convener for Education in the National Council
of Women of New Zealand (NCWNZ). From 1998-2001 I was Co-Convener
of the group looking at IFUW Structure for the Way Forward. In 2001
I was elected to the Status of Women Committee and during the Triennium
2001-04 was Coordinator for the Interdisciplinary Seminars for the
IFUW 2004 Conference. I also made a substantial contribution to
the development of the Programme for Action 2004-07 Leaflet as well
as the website material. At the same time I was firstly a member
of the Board of NCWNZ and later a Vice-President and International
Secretary. I was re-elected to the SWC in 2004 and during this triennium
have been Deputy Convener. My responsibilities for this triennium
have included the development of an international advocacy network
with the NFAs; development of the Programme for Action Leaflet for
2007-10; the collation of the IFUW Mid-Decade report on a Culture
of Peace and Non-Violence for the Children of the World 2001-2010
for UNESCO; the development of a proposal for NFAS to take a leadership
role in marking the International Women's Day in their country or
community; participation on the assessment committee for the selection
of the ID seminars papers for the 2007 IFUW Conference. In 2006
I was one of the IFUW delegates to the meetings of the Commission
on the Status of Women in New York and in June 2005 was an IFUW
representative at the Ninth International Interdisciplinary Congress
on Women, "Women's Worlds." I have been involved with
the PGWNet since its inception in 1999. I have also been involved
in the preparation of tow New Zealand NGO Alternative reports to
CEDAW, in 2002 and in 2006.

| Goals
for the position and the contribution the candidate believes she can
personally make if elected or appointed |
After
6 year's service with the SWC I believe that I am well qualified
to be its Convener.
It is a key committee of IFUW in that it takes the responsibility
for:
- The IFUW Programme for Action
- The Interdisciplinary Seminar and Workshop programmes at an IFUW
Conference
- The promotion of international advocacy of IFUW with the NFAs.
As Convener I believe that it is critical that at a time when IFUW
is undergoing transformation members of the SWC:
- Work as a team drawing on the skills, experience and resources
that members bring to the work of the committee;
-Are focused on achieving the goals that each of the responsibilities
above include;
- Maintain open and regular communication with the IFUW United Nations
Representatives, the members of the Resolutions, Membership and
Projects Committees, the Board of Officers, NFAs, IFUW's Project
5-O partners and, most importantly, each other;
- Use their expertise to promote life-long education and women's
participation in leadership and decision-making.
I am prepared to commit myself to this work to the best of my ability. |
