Goals for this position and the contribution you believe you can personally make if elected or appointed

If I am appointed to the Committee as Convener or Member, my goal is to ensure that the highest level applicants are awarded the Fellowships. This would entail a thorough assessment of applications by members of the team, a close working relationship between committee members, and the opportunity for all members to contribute to the process to be used. I would try to ensure that all suggestions and assessments are valued, that members believe that their input is important, and that there is the opportunity to negotiate the best outcomes to be recommended to the IFUW Board of Officers.
My experience on the IFUW Fellowships Committee and the other committees (as in 14 above) will be invaluable in advising the IFUW Board of Officers on any special policy questions and conditions governing awards.

How would you promote sponsorship for and donations to the International Fellowships?

Through my successful experience in high-level positions in AFGW and other organisations, I am able to demonstrate a high-level ability to promote sponsorship and to elicit donations.

I believe that it is important to give the IFUW Fellowships as much publicity as possible in IFUW, NTA, STA publications as well as in various areas of the media. I would contact NTAs to request that they advertise the Fellowships and to ask for sponsorships and donations.

It may be possible to ask IFUW and NTAs to add an item soliciting donations and/or bequests to their application and renewal forms.

What do you see as the role of the convener? To me, the role of Convener is:
* to build a team in which each member of the Committee and their contributions are valued
* to encourage members to participate fully and thoughtfully in the assessment process
* to provide an atmosphere where, when committee members have reached different assessments, they are encouraged to explain their reasoning to other members
* to support negotiations within the team to ensure that the best applicants are
* recommended to the Board.
* to maintain full communication with the Board
* to undertake any and all tasks requested by the Board
* to attend meetings as necessary.
