IFUW:
One term as a member of the Membership Committee 2001-2004.
One term as Vice President 2004-2007 with a great honour.
I feel myself very lucky to be assigned and attached to the young
members and the 'next generation'. Because they are the future of
our well known organization.
TUKD: (Turkish Association of University Women)
I joined TÜKD in 1965 when I was 24 years old. I've been an active
member in many fields and positions on the Board of Ankara branch
supporting my organization especially on PR activities and projects.
(President of Ankara branch, 1986-90 and the founder of 6 branches
of TÜKD during the same period.)
During our general conference, on 16th of April, 2006 I became national
President of TÜKD. My first goal is to be extended, establishing
new branches for reaching more girls and women who haven't enough
facilities even to attend the primary schools in their areas. I've
organized a friendship tour to Turkey at the end of May 2006 with
our Konya and Ankara branches. It was very successful. 36 guests attended
the tour from 14 countries. (From USA to Singapore). We have very
pleased to feel them pleased.
TÜKD is the member of the National Education Commission; the
NGO Commission for CEDAW and the Health and Family Planning Commissions.
We are lobbying to establish "equality commission" at Turkish
Parliament.
Other relevant experiences:
I am very proud to be the first women industrialist member of Ankara
Chamber of industry. (1970)
I'm a board member of the Turkish Federation of Women Associations.
We are representing our women both in and outside of the country.
I am the funder of same Foundation on education and volunteer services
and platforms. I have gained marvellous experiences during my previous
posts: Project coordinator and the Chief Adviser to the President
of Turkish International Cooperation Agency (TICA) 1992-96, Director
of External Relations, Turkish Ministry of Health, 1990-1992; Adviser
to the Representative of UNICEF and organizer of Child Summit 1989-1990.
My husband is a dedicated Rotarian and he is very active At RI. His
position also gives me opportunities to meet and reach more volunteers
in the country and outside. |
| Goals
for the position and the contribution the candidate believes she can
personally make if elected or appointed |
I
feel enthusiasm to be nominated for Vice President of IFUW for second
term. I believe I'll be more active and capable with the experience
I've gained during these years. I'll work very closely with our young
members and the 'next generation'. I'll be in contact with them in
many NFAs as well.
I'm sure that their energies and our experiences on many fields will
create together a huge synergy for going fast like new technologies
created every day in our information societies.
My goal is to increase the number of members especially young members
in all NFAs giving guidance them for attractive projects which reflects
the needs of their societies.
The universities are the real sources for potential young members
beginning with next generations. To reach them and communicate with
them is very important. (We may use mentoring as a tool).
To promote diversity with any discrimination in our organization is
also very important goal for me. Keeping up with community change
is very essential at all level of life encouraging and supporting
diversity.
We need to protect peace and to reach equality with human rights.
Education for girls and training facilities for mothers and empowering
women are very vital issues especially for developing countries.
I'll try to do my best with my knowledge and my capabilities by looking
forward as I have done all my life. |
