Apart from work with individual and marriage/family relationships, my conflict mediation practice has been extensively used in workplace conflict resolution, mainly within Queensland Health Department.
|
Knowledge of and/or experience in international relations, particularly in relation to refugees, that qualitfy to this position: |
I have lived and travelled around the world in the service of my husband's military career. Born in post war Holland in 1948 and lived in Immigration Center Hawkesbury Valley NSW with refugee children from war torn Europe. Lived in Germany attached to British Army on the Rhine as part of NATO and Islambad, Pakistan and Toronto Canada.
I also belong to the Universal Church and continue to have friends still active in service-army, UN and church. The issues of international conflict and peace strategies are of intense interest to me, and the issue of refugee women and children is extremely close to my heart.
I have very much enjoyed the three years (almost) on the HH Committeee.
I am a member of AFUW/SC which has a very strong and active affiliation with refugee women who attend our Sunshine Coast University for Enlgish language course, which then expedites their wider university studies. |
Other skills and experience (volunteer and professional) from the last 10 years which qualify you for this position |
2004 and 2005 I attended course conducted by Bond University and Attorney General Dept. both in Dispute Resolution/Mediation.
Curch and HH involvement have been my voluntary contributions, aside from professional work in this District, in a private capacity. |
| Goals for this position and the contribution you believe you can personally make if elected or appointed |
The present convener has worked steadily, in consultation with mebers and IFUW, to improve forms both on the web and hard copy, to make us more visible to the women we are trying to reach.
There has been extensive effort in "matching up" with NFA women in the receiving countries/cities and further, we are working on raising awareness with talks at our meetings and brochures, especially this year, in our quest for support (gifts and voluteers) for the IFUW-HH "boutique"during the Conference in Mexico. |
What strategies do you think the Committee could use to increase NFA involvement and support for the Hegg Hoffet Fund? |
Beyond the work we are currently doing, I would only suggset more physical Public Relations, to raise awareness. We are aware of the high demand on people, for help for so many different and all worthy causes. And yet, when we receive funds and words of support from NFA groups that have suddenly become aware of HH and its work. It is always so touching.
For personal reasons I will be unable to attend the one schedulded face-to-face meeting but I believe that over the last three year, althrough I have not attended a meeting, that I have demonstrated my commitment and involvement to the present HH Committee. |
