Romanian Association Co-organizes
Central-Eastern European Preparatory Meeting
for the Beijing+5 Special Session "Women 2000",1-5 March 2000

The Romanian Association, together with the National Medical Women Association and the NGOs Women National Forum, is organizing a meeting to give Central-Eastern non-governmental organizations (NGOs) an opportunity to have input into the Special "Women 2000" meeting that will evaluate progress made in the implementation of the Beijing Platform of Action.

The NGOs coming together will evaluate government progress made in implementing each of the Platform provisions, at how implementation has been carried out in Eastern and Western countries, at how women's NGOs evaluate progress in realizing the goals set out in the provisions in the Platform and how women's associations can help overcome any obstacles that have been encountered. The meeting will also include preliminary discussions about Women's International Marches to be held in countries throughout the world on 8 March 2000, the result of a Canadian initiative.
