IFUW Pre-Conference Tour

Visit the town of Shakespeare's birth, with an evening at the theatre and a day at Warwick Castle. Please note that further information on local activities and entertainment, including meeting with local BFWG members, will be available nearer the time.

ITINERARY

Tuesday, 7 August

• Morning: Travel from Manchester University campus to Stratford-upon-Avon.
• Afternoon: Enjoy some free time to visit the town. There are many places to explore: you can eat and shop, take a walk by the river, or visit places associated with Shakespeare. Further information on particular activities will be available at the time.
• Evening: Dinner at the Stratford Victoria Hotel followed by a visit to the new spacious Courtyard Theatre (programme not yet announced) for a performance by the Royal Shakespeare Company.

Warwick Castle

Wednesday, 8 August

• All day: Visit Warwick Castle, a medieval fortress. There is plenty to see with pageantry, jousting, special events, and exhibitions, both inside and outside the castle. This is a great day out!
• Evening: Dinner at the Stratford Victoria Hotel.

Thursday, 9 August

• Morning: Visit to Shakespeare's birthplace and other places of interest. Small groups will go to different points of interest, many within walking distance. Payment of entrance fees to be to be settled individually on the day.
• Afternoon: Travel to Manchester for IFUW Conference registration.

ACCOMMODATION

Tour participants will stay at the Stratford Victoria Hotel, a modern hotel four-star hotel with overtones of Victorian architecture. The hotel is a comfortable and convenient base to explore the historic town of Stratford-upon-Avon and has an award-winning restaurant. Accommodation is for two nights and includes breakfast and dinner.

COST

The cost of this tour is £235 per person. This includes a shared twin room (single rooms on request), executive coach travel, breakfast and dinner at the hotel, the theatre visit and the visit to Warwick Castle. Lunches are not included.
