Welcome to FUWA
The Federation of University Women of Africa (FUWA) is a non-profit Regional grouping of African Associations/Federations of the International Federation of University Women (IFUW).
Objectives of FUWA
The objectives of FUWA are adopted in the FUWA General Assembly Meetings and included:

To promote the interest of women at all levels of decision making in the African Region
- To undertake programmes of action that address issues of common concern and seek solutions to current problems
- To co-operate with other organizations which support the welfare and emancipation of women and to implement international plans of action in Africa
- To empower African women to take an increased part in international decision making by participating in world conferences and decision making fora
- To promote understanding and friendship among graduate women in Africa irrespective of political opinion or creed.
6) To encourage all African countries to establish National Associations affiliated to IFUW.
Achievements include:

- interest dialogue on Higher education
- scholarships, grants, and awards for women undertaking retraining and education at all levels
- undergraduate, postgraduate degrees and research
- lobbying and submissions to the parliamentary process
- social activities and friendship
- opportunities for networking, sharing of information and resources, and exchange of ideas
- seminars and workshops
- national conferences
- support for women's projects in developing nations
- network of links to national and international women's organisations and activities.

Highlights
The Federation of University Women of Africa (FUWA) held a conference on the theme“Girl-Chile Education in Africa” in Lagos, Nigeria ,16-19 July 2009. The conference drew participants from within and outside Africa.
A seven-point communiqué issued at the end of the conference, called on, among other things, the African governments to invest more in education, especially girl-child education.
