THE ESTONIAN ASSOCIATION OF UNIVERSITY WOMEN is the offspring of the Estonian Society of Female Students, founded in 1926. The organization was reestablished in 1991, its status at the International Federation of University Women (IFUW) was restored in 1992. EAUW is a voluntary, nonprofit, self-funded organization of over 100 women university graduates. The organization has two branches: Tartu and Tallinin.
Our Aim is To:
- promote education and culture
- promote interest in scientific research
- pursuit of knowledge
- use our knowledge and participated actively in solving the problems of our public life.
Who Can Join?
Any woman resident of Estonia who holds a degree or a diploma from a university or institution of comparable academic standing recognized by IFUW.Activities
We:
- lobby public institutions about our policies on education, the quality of life and the status of women and children in our country
- provide for opportunities to network on local, national and international meetings
- be on the lookout for opportunities for fellowship and support
- hold meetings on educational, cultural and social issues
- promote knowledge on the history of our organization and on the biographies of our outstanding members
- have special interest and study groups
