In 1993 the honourable delegate from Canada dr. Marion C. Mathieson dedicated a lot of attention to the work of CAUW. As an activist of broad spectrum, fighting for peace and human rights, who became well acquainted with the work of CAUW, she judged that we belong into the circle of membership of the International Federation of University Women (IFUW). She represented us at the Triennial IFUW Conference in Yokohama and accepted our membership application form. Due to her interest in refugees she had visited Croatia on several occasions. She was acquainted with "the truth about the situation in Croatia, and she would speak about it" – as she informed us in her letter. She was proclaimed an honorary member of our Association and she was sincerely happy about it. Her future visits, that she planned, did not happen because of her severe illness. Mrs. Linda Sauter’s paper at the 26th Triennial IFUW Conference was dedicated to commemorating her death and selfless support to the Croatian Association of University Women "during the first vital years of the membership in IFUW". In the text the importance of the project of demining in Croatia was especially pointed out; a project she initiated but did not have the chance to realize.
