Inquiry into Violence in Schools: Effects on Girls

Violence in schools in Guinea is a topic of national national concern, and school girls and the women who work in schools often bear the brunt of this violence.

The project of the Guinea Associatoin aims to promote peace and non-violence in schools and colleges and to create an environment conducive to learning.  It is a follow-up to a study conducted by the Association in 2003-2004 which sought to identify the causes of school violence.

The current project involves the distribution of a questionnaire to 2500 people in about 30 schools.  This number includes students, teachers, parents, school heads and elected local representatives.  A 6-day results evaluation workshop will be held to present the findings to over 50 participants.

The project will be undertaken in co-operation with the National Civic Education Directorate, the NGO Network for Basic Education and Directors of Education at prefectoral and communal levels.
