Women for eco-art

Despite the fact that Georgia has ratified and recognized women’s rights conventions, there are no equality programmes especially for disabled women. The problem of marginalized women’s activity and involvement in the decision-making process still exists in Georgia.

This project, run in co-operation with the Georgian Disabled Women International Association (GDWIA), aims to help integrate marginalized women into social life through the revival and maintenance of Georgia’s national craft of felt production. Potential participants will be taken from all parts of the country. Participants will include refugee women, unemployed women and those with physical disabilities. All participants will receive three months training in photo art and traditional felt production from traditional artists. These activities have been specially chosen as they will help to increase vision, perception, analysis, planning and give beneficiaries viable work skills.

GDWIA has training rooms and an exhibition space where the work of the women will be exhibited and sold.
