Promoting Gender Equality in Higher Education

Project aimed at building networks between representatives of women's academic NGOs, women from academic institutions in Central, Eastern and South Eastern Europe, and gender sensitive policy makers under the umbrella of a Women's History Conference to be held in Sofia in August 2007.  Themes to be developed include: a gender-sensitive analysis of education policies (secondary and university) and practices in the region, and equal access to education for minority groups. It is hoped that regular meetings and seminars of NGO activists, policy makers and colleagues from academic institutions can be initiated to discuss gender equality in education and compare the situation within the new EU Members States to that of older EU Member states.
